Copy Report to a Notes Records

Reports generated using the "Reports" menu of any or custom reports in the "Extensions" menu show up in your document's index, but they are not saved when the document is saved. Normally reports should be transient and regenerated whenever needed. Sometimes, however, you might want to save a report in your document. You can achieve that goal using this extension.

Saving a Report in a Document

The first step is to choose the report to be copied. You can select the report in the document's main index window or open the report in its own window. When done:

  1. Choose "Editing Tools→Copy Report to Notes" from the "Extensions" menu (note: if you did not correctly select a report before running the extension, you will be given a list of all reports in the document and can pick one to copy).
  2. A dialog box with the report's name will appear. You can change name, if desired, and then click "OK" to copy a report to a Notes record.
  3. The new Notes record will open to verify it copied correctly.

The copied report will be listed in your Notes records under the name you provided. The initial Notes records will not be linked to any other records in your file, but you can use standard note-attachment methods to link individual, families, or other records to the copied report.
